The Flint Journal & Genesee County Bar Association’s “Ask the Attorney”

By Attorneys at MACDONALD & MACDONALD PLLC

Q. I was hurt on the job and have not been able to work for the past month. Shouldn’t I be receiving workers’ compensation by now? I’m starting to fall behind on my bills.

A. Workers’ compensation wage loss benefits become due and payable if you have been off work more than seven consecutive days. If you are disabled for more than 14 days, benefits for the first week off of work are payable retroactively. If your employer or its insurance carrier hasn’t started paying by now, you should give us a call to see if we can help speed up the process.
