Q. I was injured on the job. What benefits can I receive?

A. Michigan injured workers are entitled to receive potentially lifetime weekly workers’ compensation benefits up to $1084 a week, tax free. Workers’ compensation pays for medical bills including the cost of hospitalizations, doctor visits, therapy, surgery, medications, etc.. Workers’ compensation pays for attendant care. Workers’ compensation can be required to pay for two years of college or retraining. Injured workers may also be eligible for Social Security Disability and/or disability pensions. Injured workers can sometimes recover damages from those responsible for their injuries. Injured workers receive protection from discrimination and retaliation under the Americans with Disabilities Act and under the Workers’ Disability Compensation Act.
